Round table discussion for the project on “Development and testing of approaches to conflict resolution around the subsoil in the Batken district rayon of the Batken region.”


On 29th of October, RDF provided an opportunity for a round table discussion on the final outcomes of the project on “Development and testing of approaches to conflict resolution around the subsoil in the Batken rayon of the Batken region”. At the discussion were the head of local community, representatives of mining companies and the State Agency of Geology and Mineral Resources, and a representative of the Ministry of Economy and Development of Kyrgyz Republic, among others.


Head of the Department of Natural Resources Policy in the Ministry of Economy, Adilet Akmataliev, expressed his willingness to cooperate with RDF in future projects by stating, “Thanks RDF for helping public authorities by providing explanatory work for local residents in order to prevent conflicts between mining companies and locals. We need to coordinate in the future, and we are ready to work together”.


During the debate, each side provided recommendations. State authorities offered to actively carry out awareness compaigns with the local populations, while mining companies proposed to strengthen development through state agencies and government institutions.
